Heart to Heart is a team that seeks to offer practical and meaningful support, develop knowledge, skills and experience, celebrate generations and learn, laugh and create memories together with Indigenous Communities across Canada.

Our Vision is to do this through caring, listening, encouraging and sharing our lives, spreading hope, joy and faith, visiting the sick and elderly in their homes and by teaching the Groups of Hope program.

Our Mandate is to support and encourage local believers through participation in church services, prayer walks, and radio communication, to partner in ministry with practical help and loving fellowship, to assist at local rehab centers, to support community leaders including Band Council, medical staff, police, school administration and staff, to encourage and equip families with an emphasis on parenting skills, and to build relationships with children and youth by sharing messages of hope in God and positive values.

Heart to Heart serves in the communities of Pikangikum, Weagamow, Curve Lake, and Fort Hope once or twice each year for about a week at a time.  Generally these trips are in May, but can take place during other times of the year as well.  Hope Through Hockey, a ministry of Heart to Heart, takes place in the winter months in Weagamow.

Heart to Heart communicates regularly with members of each community throughout the year, and bases each trip’s activities and services on what the community members have identified as needs for their area.  Activities and services change and grow each year to serve each community best.

Depending on their experience, skills, and gifts, Heart to Heart team members participate in activities like these:

  • cooking
  • childcare
  • providing spa treatments
